Happy New Year Everybody!!
Happy New Year!! I was spending some time on the blog yesterday reading all of the entries from the past year and wow has it been kinda crazy!! I am very glad that this is the last day of this year.. I only hope that 2006 will be better. Bart and I will be staying home tonight with the kids...not because we have nowhere to go...we just don't have a sitter. So we will have beers and watch the ball drop and then go to bed. Woo Hoo..Not. Anyways..I am in a funk today..probably not the best kind of person to be going out to parties anyways. I am going to leave it at that. Cat Happy New Year Everybody!! Hopefully Tomorrow will be better!!

Just Call Me The Queen Of Assembly!!
Let me recap all of the stuff I have assembled in the last 24 hours. A large stainless steel industrial shelving unit, and a Futon. I still have one more futon and one more shelving unit to assemble and then my work will be finished. Although I am considering purchasing other furnishings that will also need assembly. Woo Hoo! I rock at assembling furniture!! Anywhoo I am off to start dinner and then work some more on organizing the kitchen and the kids living room. Cat

Yep I Know It's Been Awhile...
So Christmas was great..No really I mean it.. I got lots of great stuff...Bart got me the Altec Lansing inMotion iM3 Portable Audio System for iPod. As you know last Christmas I got the Ipod Photo 60 GB. I have not gone a single day since without using it. I take it in the car and connect it to the stereo and I take it outside and listen to it and now I can listen without the earbuds!!
The past several days have been spent sprucing up the house and we got some new stuff for the kitchen and some futons for the kids living room. I will be assembling those later this afternoon. YAY.
Anyways...I will post more later after I am done getting one of these things assembled. Cya Then. Cat

And Now For Something Completely Different...
I am not going to bitch today about all of the stuff I have to do.... I am going to be thankful that I am alive and that my kids are healthy and that we are all together for the holidays. I didn't really get much done yesterday so I need to really kick it into high gear today and get it done. Which means I will not be posting much here today. Fear not though. I have my digital camera fully charged and I will be snapping shots like crazy from tonight until after Christmas... Off to get started on my day!! Cat Technorati : Not Bitching

Good Morning Everybody
Good Morning.... I will make this quick.. I have a lot of stuff to do today. (don't I always?) - Laundry
- Dishes
- Vacuum
- Sweep
- Mop
- Scrub Bathrooms
- Finish Christmas Shopping
- Get Wrapping Paper
- Dust
- Make Fudge
- Make Fireside Coffee
- Make Rum Balls
- Maybe Make Rum Cake (Don't know if I will get to that yet or not)
I think that is all..Needless to say I probably won't post much today. I am trying to get my Ripway Image Hosting account to work so I can upload pictures to my blog through the Zoundry Blog Writer program.
I really like the Zoundry program because I never have to actually go to blogger to post to my blog. I just have to use this word processor type program and it uploads the posts for me. Cool huh? And it will post to all blogs in my blogger account. I love it!! It is a real timesaver. Anyways...I am off to work now. Cat Technorati : Wake Up!

I have felt pretty lonely this afternoon even though I am surrounded by children. Hmm wonder what that is all about.... Anyways he is finally on his way home and I am cooking dinner and sitting here messing with the template on my blog.. I am thinking of totally revamping. Not sure yet if I will do that or not. Anyways. Peace out..I am back to cooking. Cat Technorati : Hubby Love

Stressin....
Ok so now I am officially stressing out about Christmas...
I just hate not being able to go all out with presents at Christmas. I mean I did great with the kids this year but as far as the adults I had to buy for I didn't do so hot. Our bank was offering Mastercard Gift Cards this year so I got those for all the adults on my list. It feels so impersonal to do that. But oh well...that is the best I could do this year. Christmas is all about the kids anyways.

Shopping is Finished!!
I am finished with all of my shopping for the Christmas Season! Believe it or not I got it all done in 3 and a half hours in one place!! I was a shopping fool!
I made a list weeks ago of all of the people I would buy for and what I was getting them. Then I tracked down a store that had all of that in one place. It worked out perfectly!
I am so glad I am done..but silly me I didn't get any wrapping paper!
Guess I will be going back!

We Found It!!
We finally found the smell!! Apparently a VERY LARGE rat had gotten up under our garden tub in the master bathroom and died. YUCK!!
Needless to say we ended up pulling the entire tub out in order to clean him up and all of his nesting material and acorns...It was nasty..you sould have seen the tail on this thing!!
So now our tub is in the yard..(in typical redneck fashion)
But at least the smell is gone. Hooray!!
NOTE TO SELF: GET A HOUSE WITH A REAL SLAB!!
Anyways...so today I will be doing general house maintenance...
Austin needs to work on his handwriting and so do the other boys...so we are going to write letters to Santa and the Elves today...(I am going to sneak in some spelling and vacabulary)Hopefully after that we will bake some cookies..and then I will make a large batch of fireside coffee. (I love to make this stuff to give as gifts...Yummy)
Fireside Coffee
2 c. Swiss Miss 2 c. Cremora 1 1/2 c. sugar 1 c. instant coffee 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
I put all of the ingredients in the food processor and process until well mixed and the coffee crystals are broken down good. I also leave out the cinnamon and nutmeg...this is good to have around on cold days...you could substitute Sugar Free cocoa and Splenda I guess...I haven't tried that though..Then just store the mix in an airtight container and use 3-4 heaping teaspoons per 8oz hot water.
When I give it as a gift I package it in a ziploc container decorated with Christmas Stickers.
Anyways I am off to start the laundry up. Will come back later on. Cat

So Far So Good
Well so far today I have gotten quite a bit done. I have balanced my checkbook, gone to the bank, grocery shopping, put away all the groceries, worked on the Laundry, Played Candyland with the kids, started a pot roast in the crock pot...and done all the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen, I also straightened up the living room and next is the vacuuming. I am pooped already but one more cup of coffee should take care of that!
Just checking in.... Back later on. Cat

Good Morning...It Is Saturday..
Hey all,
Just thought I would pop in and say good morning. It was a very late night last night for me and Bart. Shawn and Jade were here until 4:30 in the morning doing something, I am not sure what cause I went to bed before 2. Anyways, Bart is still in bed sleeping and I am trying to keep the kids quiet so he can get some more sleep so that he won't be a grumpy bear.
I have a lot of things on my to do list for this weekend. I will share them with you.
1. Play "find the dead rat" (Yes the smell is getting stronger and I cannot handle it anymore)
2. Get the outside Christmas Lights up. (either that or just not put them up at all since Christmas is next weekend.
3. Finish the laundry and get it put away.
4. Clean out the twins closet so I can put their organizers in there.
5. Clean out Austin's closet so I can put his organizer in there.
6. Scrub both bathrooms down.
7. Scrub Kitchen floor.
8. Vacuum the entire house.
9. Get all of the trash out to the dumpster so that all of the trashcans in the house are empty and have fresh bags.
10. Make a huge batch of Fireside Coffee Mix.
11. Make a huge batch of Rum Balls.
That's it!
As for the kids I am going to be working continually with them on their handwriting during the Christmas break. We will write letters to Santa and the Elves this weekend. Bake some cookies, and maybe make some Rum Balls! ( No the kids will not be assisting with the rum balls)
Well I am off to have my coffee and get my day started. Cya later on! I will update around noon as to what I have gotten done so far!

Well School Is Over...
Well..School is over until January 4. I spent the entire afternoon at the school with the kids.
First was Aaron's Christmas party. He was so excited to see me! He had a pile of cookies and cupcakes and chips and candy..He was covered in frosting! He had a wonderful time though and he had fun giving his gifts to his teachers.
Next was Christian's Party. I went in for about 20 minutes and sat with him while he ate Cheetos and a sandwich and then moved on to cupcakes and other holiday candy.
Then on to Austin's party...this is where things went south. When I walked in he ran to me and hugged me tight about the waist. I hugged him back and sat with him in my lap at his desk. He is placed away from the other kids for some reason which I will surely get to the bottom of as soon as school is back in session in January. His teacher did nothing but bark at him for the whole party which I could tell made him sad....so I did what any other good mother would do and yanked him out of his party and we went to McDonalds to have a party of our own. Complete with Ice cream!! I could tell he was grateful. I assure you that his teacher and I will have words after the Christmas break. She got each of the other kids in the class a stocking with candy in it and ran out before she got to Austin and didn't even apologize..she didn't even offer him the stocking she had reserved for some other little brat that was absent today. What a B^%CH!! I wanted to scratch her eyes out by the time I got him out of there. I actually cried a bit on the way to McDonalds but I didn't let Austin see that. How could someone be so cruel to a little boy. She even had the nerve to look at me and smile after barking at him. Needless to say I didn't smile back...Boy if looks could kill..
Anyways...That is today in a nutshell. We are all home now and I am back to my reality which is dishes and laundry and finding that damn dead rat smell.... Cya later. Cat

Today's Song Of The Day..
Dave Matthews Band Two Step
Say, my love, I came to you With best intentions You laid down and gave to me just what I’m seeking Love, you drive me to distraction
Hey my love do you believe that we Might last a thousand years Or more if not for this? Our flesh and blood it ties You and me right up Tie me down
Celebrate we will Because life is short but sweet for certain We’re climbing two by two To be sure these days continue, These things we cannot change
Hey, my love, you came to me like Wine comes to this mouth Grown tired of water all the time You quench my heart and you Quench my mind
Celebrate we will Because life is short but sweet for certain We’re climbing two by two To be sure these days continue, The things we cannot
Celebrate, you and me, climbing Two by two, to be sure These days continue, things we cannot change
Oh, my love, I came to you With best intentions You laid down and gave to me just what I’m seeking
Celebrate we will Because life is short but sweet for certain We’re climbing two by two To be sure these days continue, Things we cannot change... Things we cannot change

Well That's Just Great
I have been noticing this odor in the house for the past couple of days...This morning I decided to play my absolute favorite game...Find The Smell..
As I have mentioned before we live in the woods with lots of pasture around us so of course there are rats and mice all around us..(Thank God we have our kitty who is an amazing mouser)
I think you can tell where I am going with this...
Bart put some rat pellets under the house last week just for good measure as it is something we do from time to time.
I am guessing that one of the rats got some of these pellets and died either in the floor or up in the insulation under the house somewhere...The smell is in our bathroom, bedroom and now leaking into the living room..eww. Dead Rat is not a good odor...you cannot cover it with febreeze or candles or anything...
Guess we will have to go under the house this weekend or today and "Find The Smell" . Great...
Anyways.. I am going to have another cuppa joe and finish getting ready for the festivities at school... Will post more later on when I am home again. Cat

Strange Things Are Brewin...
So I spent most of the day today making fudge for the kids teachers for school. It went well...It is all now nicely packaged and ready for giving tomorrow at the school Christmas Parties. The kids will have early release so I will be back home early with them tomorrow and then they don't go back til January 4.
I am working on planning some outings with them during the break..as well as the usual cookie baking and artist days.
There is a cool Christmas Program at a church in The Woodlands where they will have real snow and a train ride thingy and a live nativity plus a candle light service. I am kinda pumped.
So that's it! Well at least for today. We will see what tomorrow brings.
PS. I started a new blog for my diet journey of 2006. Here is the LINK

A funny I got today in Email
I got this from a friend today and thought I would share..Enjoy!
FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director To: All Employees Date: 1 October 2004 RE: Staff Christmas Party I'm happy to inform you that the company Christmas Party will take place on December 23, starting at noon in the private function room at the Grill House. There will be a cash bar and plenty of drinks! We'll have a small band playing traditional carols...feel free to sing along. And don't be surprised if our CEO shows up dressed as Santa Claus! A Christmas tree will be lit at 1:00pm. Exchange of gifts among employees can be done at that time; however, no gift should be over $10.00 to make the giving of gifts easy for everyone's pockets. This gathering is only for employees! Our CEO will make a special announcement at that time! Merry Christmas to you and your family. Patty
FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees DATE: 2 October, 2004 RE: Holiday Party In no way was yesterday's memo intended to exclude our Jewish employees. We recognize that Chanukah is an important holiday, which often coincides with Christmas, though unfortunately not this year. However, from now on we're calling it our "Holiday Party." The same policy applies to any other employees who are not Christians or those still celebrating Reconciliation Day. There will be no Christmas tree present. No Christmas carols sung. We will have other types of music for your enjoyment. Happy now? Happy Holidays to you and your family. Patty
FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees DATE: 3 October, 2004 RE: Holiday Party Regarding the note I received from a member of Alcoholics Anonymous requesting a non-drinking table ... you didn't sign your name. I'm happy to accommodate this request, but if I put a sign on a table that reads, "AA Only"; you wouldn't be anonymous anymore. How am I supposed to handle this? Somebody? Forget about the gifts exchange, no gifts exchange are allowed since the union members feel that $10.00 is too much money and executives believe $10.00 is a little chintzy. NO GIFTS EXCHANGE WILL BE ALLOWED. Patty
FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees DATE: 4 October, 2004 RE: Holiday Party What a diverse group we are! I had no idea that December 20 begins the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which forbids eating and drinking during daylight hours. There goes the party! Seriously, we can appreciate how a luncheon at this time of year does not accommodate our Muslim employees' beliefs. Perhaps the Grill House can hold off on serving your meal until the end of the party - or else package everything for you to take it home in little foil doggy baggy. Will that work? Meanwhile, I've arranged for members of Weight Watchers to sit farthest from The dessert buffet and pregnant women will get the table closest to the restrooms. Gays are allowed to sit with each other. Lesbians do not have to sit with Gay men, each will have their own table. Yes, there will be flower arrangement for the Gay men's table. To the person asking permission to cross dress, no cross-dressing allowed though. We will have booster seats for short people. Low-fat food will be available for those on a diet. We cannot control the salt used in the food we suggest for those people with high blood pressure to taste first. There will be fresh fruits as dessert for Diabetics, the restaurant cannot supply "No Sugar" desserts. Sorry! Did I miss anything?!?!? Patty
FROM: Patty Lewis, Human Resources Director TO: All @#$%^&*! Employees DATE: 5 October, 2004 RE: The @#$%^&*! Holiday Party Vegetarian pricks! I've had it with you people!!! We're going to keep this party at the Grill House whether you like it or not, so you can sit quietly at the table furthest from the "grill of death," as you so quaintly put it, and you'll get your f****** salad bar, including organic tomatoes. But you know, tomatoes have feelings, too. They scream when you slice them. I've heard them scream. I'm hearing them scream right NOW! I hope you all have a rotten holiday! Drive drunk and die, The B@#$! from H@%!
FROM: Joan Bishop, Acting Human Resources Director TO: All Employees DATE: 6 October, 2004 RE: Patty Lewis and Holiday Party I'm sure I speak for all of us in wishing Patty Lewis a speedy recovery and I'll continue to forward your cards to her. In the meantime, management has decided to cancel our Holiday Party and give everyone the afternoon of the 23rd off with full pay. Happy Holidays!

Saturday...Gonna Be A Long Day Again...
I woke up with a splitting headache this morning. There was also a piece of my bridgework floating around in my mouth....(glad I didn't swallow it in my sleep) Guess I grinded my teeth pretty badly last night.
Today promises to be a busy and long day. Christian has horseback riding with Leap of Faith, There is a Christmas Parade in downtown Conroe, a Kids Christmas Festival in the park...Basically I will be out of the house with the kids from about noon to around 6 tonight. (Fun Fun) I am supposed to finish up the laundry and put up the Christmas tree today...(at least that's what my calendar in my Treo says. Guess that won't be happening today. I was also planning on baking some of the 18 pounds of cookie dough I bought from the kids fundraiser at school....Oh well.
I have been thinking a lot about my Dad the last couple of days. I guess Christmas will always be hard. Hopefully my sadness will not ruin it for the kids.
Anyways I am off to finish my morning chores...Gonna post a song of the day next. Cat

Back Again..
Ok I can't even remember when I posted last...seems like forever. Anyways.
It has been a full week. It is Thursday and I have gotten quite a bit done this week. I am in the process of doing end of the year rush around with your head cut off stuff. I have made my shopping list for the holiday goodies, and made my christmas shopping list out. Now to find the money to pay for it all.
I love this time of year. I always make rum balls, rum cake, and fudge, as well as some other "spirited" goodies. (Yes I LOVE rum) (isn't there a christmas song that has a line in it that goes RumPaPaPum....? ) (Little drummer boy I think)
Anyways I am going to try to decorate tomorrow while the kids are gone to school so it will be a surprise for them when they get home.
So now I am off to start dinner and get the last of the laundry put away. Will post more in the morning when I am a little more awake. Cat
