Sunday...

Ok so I know it has been a week since I posted last...

I thought I would come and vent since today is going so shitty...

Yet again I am home with the kids..with a messy house to clean...I cannot wait for school to start so I can have a life again.

I checked the gas gage on my van yesterday and I have a half a tank...Do you realize how sad that is to have a half a tank of gas last more than a month..what a testament to how little I get out of the house. No wonder I am so stressed and bitchy all the time. NO ME TIME!! ARRRGH! (And no grocery store trips DO NOT count as ME TIME)

So apparently today I am going to cry a lot and eat 5 pounds of chocolate and sugar. Yay for me. Maybe I will just start drinking now even though it is only 11:18am. I think I could be wasted by noon and it wouldn't matter anyway.

Tomorrow is my very last session with Curtis. I am both happy and sad. But mostly sad. This is a guaranteed hour a week that I get out of the house with no kids that will be no more. Boo Hoo. Nobody seems to realize how important having a life is to me. Being at home with 3 kids and no life is seriously depressing and frustrating. Don't get me wrong I do love my kids(Most of the time) but it does really start to wear on me after several weeks with no break...

Maybe what I need is a trip to Louisiana for a few days. Alone. I need to go and see my family and go to my daddy's grave. I need to go and be alone for a little while before I go crazy. Fat chance of that happening.

Oh well. Guess I should go now and wash clothes and do something useful.

Happy Birthday Baby Boy..

Today is my oldest son's birthday. He is 8 today. I find it so hard to believe that he is already 8 years old. It seems like it was just yesterday that he was in diapers and eating strained carrots. Now he wants to work on motorcycles and ride 4 wheelers. I am making the kids some dinner and then we are going to the parents next door for birthday festivities. I will post more when I come back..

Drive By Truckers- Outfit

Sidenote: For those of you who have never had the pleasure to listen to the Drive By Truckers I suggest you check them out...Go on rhapsody or something and listen to them I promise if you are a southerner at heart you will love them..

Outfit-

You want to grow up to paint houses like me, a trailer in my yard till you're 23
You want to be old after 42 years, keep dropping the hammer and grinding the gears

Well, I used to go out in a Mustang, a 302 Mach One in green.
Me and your Mama made you in the back and I sold it to buy her a ring.
And I learned not to say much of nothing and I figured you already know
but in case you don’t or maybe forgot, I’ll lay it out real nice and slow

Don’t call what your wearing an outfit. Don’t ever say your car is broke.
Don’t worry about losing your accent, a Southern Man tells better jokes.
Have fun but stay clear of the needle. Call home on your sister’s birthday.
Don’t tell them you’re bigger than Jesus, don’t give it away.

Six months in a St. Florian foundry, they call it Industrial Park.
Then hospital maintenance and Tech School just to memorize Frigidaire parts.
But I got to missing your Mama and I got to missing you too.
So I went back to painting for my old man and I guess that’s what I’ll always do

So don’t try to change who you are boy, and don’t try to be who you ain’t.
And don’t let me catch you in Kendale with a bucket of wealthy-man’s paint.

Don’t call what your wearing an outfit. Don’t ever say your car is broke.
Don’t sing with a fake British accent. Don’t act like your family’s a joke.
Have fun, but stay clear of the needle, call home on your sister’s birthday.
Don’t tell them you’re bigger than Jesus, Don’t give it away.

Don’t give it away.

News Article From Blackout

Thousands of customers lose power in SE Texas

A problem at Entergy's Lewis Creek power plant in Willis preceded the massive power outage.
By The AP and ABC13 Eyewitness News
(6/15/05 - HOUSTON) — All of the nearly 100,000 customers who lost power in Southeast Texas have had their power restored.

Entergy Texas has determined that high winds from a storm caused several transmission lines to fail simultaneously Wednesday night.

Then, as a precautionary measure to protect the mechanical system, the power plant shut down.

"That shut down almost automatically," Entergy Texas spokesman David Caplan said.

However the power company rerouted transmission lines and had power back to all customers by 11 p.m. Wednesday.

As workers stabilize the system, Entergy has asked its customers to conserve electricity Thursday. For example, customers could set their air conditioning units at 78 instead of 68, Caplan said.

Caplan didn't know the status of the prisons that were forced into lockdown Wednesday night.

The outage affected Montgomery, Trinity, Liberty, Waller, Polk, San Jacinto and Grimes counties.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No terrorism
The lights went out around 7pm across Montgomery County. And it was strange to drive down I-45 and other roads without street lights. Many people were concerned about a possible terror attack. That was not the case. When word spread that the problem stemmed from the transmission problems at the power plant, some were relieved.
"It scared the living heck out of me. My mom and dad were worried," said resident Charles Tutter. I’m a country boy. I've lived without power before. I'll do it again."

Search for supplies
The blackout sent people looking for supplies.

Many headed to a Wal-Mart in New Caney and found the lights out. Employees were sent in to save frozen food, dairy and produce. As long as the stuff stayed under 40 degrees, it would be OK.

There's no word yet on how much business that store lost.

Concerns about looting
The huge power outages caused many worries for many business owners in the area. Some of them left their homes and headed for their businesses near Conroe, concerned about possible looting. But it turns out they had nothing to worry about as the power had been restored when they arrived. It also reminded many not to take lighting and air conditioning for granted.

"It really makes you conscious, no question, to see it so dark in the parking lot and it lets you know how dependant you are on it," said one business owner we spoke with.

There were no reports of any looting.

Driving treacherous
Traffic lights went black along parts of I-45 and area highways and residential streets. The sight of headlights and break lights lit up the area. Some drivers were cautious and slowed down. Others say without any lights at intersection, it was chaos. Drivers also headed to get gas for their cars and for their generators. Some came up empty. Stores had already run out.

Hospital goes into disaster mode
The power problems also affected the Conroe Regional Medical Center. The sign outside the facility went dark. As a precaution, employees worked on internal disaster mode and used generators. Ambulances were on drive-by status for a while, but around 10:45pm, all the power was restored. We're told patient care was not affected.

Prison lockdown
Texas prisons affected by the outage went into lockdown mode when the power went out. The Walls unit in Huntsville, which houses Texas' death row, worked on back-up generator power. Corrections officers moved inmates into a central area to better keep an eye on them. It's not known if this included the condemned killers on death row.

Major Blackout Last Night

We had a 8 County blackout last night here in the great state of TX. It was kinda cool actually..until I realized there was no A/C...So we sat in the van and watched a movie on the TV in the Van with the A/C blasting..well..until the power came on that is..I am happy to say that everyone I know now has power again..I will try to find a news article to post about the event..

Today we are going to Houston to get my Dyson vacuum cleaner fixed. The Dyson's are so new and high tech that hardly anyone can work on them so I have to travel 70 miles to have it worked on..go figure..I would never own another vacuum though..The Dyson really rocks.

Anyways I am off to get the kids ready for our little road trip and have some coffee...I will post the news article..song of the day..and a pic next..

Crazy Sunday Night

This happened right next door to us on Sunday night. Scary huh??

'Boyfriend' killed after woman flees
By: Sue Thackeray 06/14/2005

WILLIS - A Willis-area homeowner, who allegedly was trying to help a woman who feared her boyfriend would kill her, shot and killed the boyfriend late Sunday night.
The homeowners had just arrived at their 10134 Calvary Road residence, which is also the location of the Jungle Eyes Wildlife Sanctuary, after a weekend out of town about 11 p.m. Sunday when they heard screaming and shouting coming from the area in front of their house, said Montgomery County Sheriff's Department spokesman Lt. Dan Norris.
When they went around the front of the house, the homeowners were met by a woman claiming her boyfriend was chasing her and trying to kill her. The homeowners took the woman inside their home, locking the doors behind them.
The woman's boyfriend, who was not identified by police, allegedly began beating on the front door, Norris said. The homeowners called 9-1-1. The Courier has requested a tape recording of the 9-1-1 call, but the Sheriff's Department has 10 days to provide that, according to state law.
"The boyfriend busted the door down and entered the home," Norris said. "The homeowner shot and killed the boyfriend."
While the investigation into the incident is continuing, Norris said, Sheriff's Department officials do not plan to file any charges against the homeowner. The case will be forwarded to the District Attorney's office for presentation to the grand jury.
The Texas Penal Code allows a person to use deadly force in certain circumstances, including in a situation where the person using deadly force believes it is immediately necessary to prevent the "imminent commission of aggravated kidnapping, murder, sexual assault, aggravated assault, aggravated sexual assault, robbery or aggravated robbery."
The boyfriend and girlfriend apparently had been arguing as they drove down Calvary Road late Sunday night. During the argument, the boyfriend, who was driving the truck, allegedly lost control of the vehicle, which flipped over in the ditch, Norris said.
The woman was able to crawl out of the wreckage, but she was closely followed by her boyfriend as she ran to the nearby home.
Telephone messages left Monday at the home where the shooting occurred were not returned, and the property is surrounded by a secured gate.
Sheriff's Department officials declined to release the names of the homeowners, the girlfriend or the man who was shot.
"We're not going to be releasing much more about the incident," said Sheriff's Department Lt. Darrell Conn, who heads up the north county detectives squad.
