Hunkering Down...

We are currently preparing to ride out Hurricane Rita here in Willis, TX. I have spent the last two days storing away water and non perishable food and batteries etc. We have moved all of our irreplaceable belongings to Bart's shop next to the house. Since we live in a double wide mobile home we do not think it would be safe to stay here so we are planning to go to Bart's parent's house.

I have charged up the digital camera and the video cam and the cell phones so I will post photos as I can. Wish us luck..

Today's Song Of The Day...

Like A Song...U2

Like a song I have to sing,
I sing it for you.
Like the words I have to bring,
I bring them for you.
And in leather, lace and chains,
We stake our claim,
Revolution once again.

But I won’t,
I won’t wear it on my sleeve.
I can see through this expression
And you know I don’t believe.
I’m too old to be told,
Exactly who are you?
Tonight, tomorrow’s to late.

And we love to wear a badge, a uniform,
And we love to fly a flag.
But I won’t let others live in hell,
As we divide against each other,
And we fight amongst ourselves.

Too set in out ways to try to rearrange.
Too right to be wrong, in this rebel song.
Let the bells ring out, is there nothing left?
Is honesty what you want?

A generation without name, ripped and torn,
Nothing to loose, nothing to gain,
Nothing at all.
And if you can’t help yourself,
Well take a look around you
When others need your time.
You say it’s time to go it’s your time.
Angry words won’t stop the fight.
Two wrongs won’t make it right.
A new heart is what I need,
Oh god, make it bleed,
Is there nothing left?

Saturday..

Well it is Saturday and I have survived the last week.

Mom is doing well after her surgery...The first couple of days were rough but I think she is on the upside of all of that now.

Today I plan on spending the day cleaning up the house and getting it back in order from the disorder of my absence......

So that is today in a nutshell...
Song of the day is next..

Random Notes...

It has been a full week already..and only promises to get fuller as the days go by. I am going to be slammed busy until well into October..

Tommorrow I am spending the day from 6am until whenever with my mother at the hospital in The Woodlands. She is having knee surgery. For two to three weeks after that I will be spending from 9am-5pm monday through friday with her taking care of her and the house and other misc. tasks.

Tomorrow is also my nephew Simon's 2nd birthday.

Friday is my Father's Birthday. (or would have been if he were still living..God rest his soul.)

Sunday is my Father in law's birthday...umm not sure how old he is going to be..will have to check on that..

The 22nd is my Mother's birthday..I am sure I will make a cake or something for her since she will still be horizontal from the knee surgery. Maybe we will do a day of movies and cardplaying..

Friday the 23rd is my little brother Levi's birthday. He will be 15. I think he will be coming in for a visit on that day as well.

On the 24th I am hosting a baby shower for my sister Karen. Still have lots of planning and shopping to do for that.

On the 25th my best friend will be coming home from Hawaii!!!! Hopefully we can get together and catch up since it will have been nearly a month since I have seen her.

Anyways....that is the rest of my month in a nutshell...Can't wait til October...things will slow down then...

Saturday Morning

It is finally the weekend..

It is going to be a busy day today. I have a birthday party to go to and lots of clothes to wash. I am sure that Bart is working most of the day as well.

Next week promises to be a very full week as well. My mother is having knee surgery and I will be caring for her afterwards for however long she will need me...which means I may not be posting much to the blog that week.

Actually things promise to be quite crazy well into October...

My big brother is coming next month!!! Hooray!!

Levi may be coming next weekend for his birthday!!

Esther are you coming too??

Ok well I need more coffee to make good sentences..
Be back later on..

Today's Song

When The Levee Breaks- A Perfect Circle

Fitting I think....

If it keeps on rainin',
levee's goin' to break
If it keeps on rainin',
levee's goin' to break
And the water gonna come in,
have no place to stay
Well all last night I sat on the levee and moan
Well all last night I sat on the levee and moan
Thinkin' 'bout my baby and my happy home

If it keeps on rainin', levee's goin' to break
If it keeps on rainin', levee's goin' to break
And all these people have no place to stay
Now look here mama what am I to do
Now look here mama what am I to do
I ain't got nobody to tell my troubles to

I works on the levee mama both night and day
I works on the levee mama both night and day
I ain't got nobody, keep the water away

Oh cryin' won't help you,
prayin' won't do no good
Oh cryin' won't help you,
prayin' won't do no good
When the levee breaks,
mama, you got to lose

I works on the levee, mama both night and day
I works on the levee, mama both night and day
I works so hard, to keep the water away

I had a woman, she wouldn't do for me
I had a woman, she wouldn't do for me
I'm goin' back to my used to be
I's a mean old levee,
cause me to weep and moan
I's a mean old levee,
cause me to weep and moan
Gonna leave my baby, and my happy home

Letter From Michael Moore to President Bush..

Dear Mr. Bush:

Any idea where all our helicopters are? It's Day 5 of Hurricane Katrina and thousands remain stranded in New Orleans and need to be airlifted. Where on earth could you have misplaced all our military choppers? Do you need help finding them? I once lost my car in a Sears parking lot. Man, was that a drag.

Also, any idea where all our national guard soldiers are? We could really use them right now for the type of thing they signed up to do like helping with national disasters. How come they weren't there to begin with?

Last Thursday night the weatherman said this storm was on its way to New Orleans. That was Thursday! Did anybody tell you? I know you didn't want to interrupt your vacation and I know how you don't like to get bad news. Plus, you had fundraisers to go to and mothers of dead soldiers to ignore and smear. You sure showed her!I especially like how, the day after the hurricane, instead of flying to Louisiana, you flew to San Diego to party with your business peeps. Don't let people criticize you for this -- after all, the hurricane was over and what the heck could you do, put your finger in the dike?

And don't listen to those who, in the coming days, will reveal how you specifically reduced the Army Corps of Engineers' budget for New Orleans this summer for the third year in a row. You just tell them that even if you hadn't cut the money to fix those levees, there weren't going to be any Army engineers to fix them anyway because you had a much more important construction job for them -- BUILDING DEMOCRACY IN IRAQ!

On Day 3, when you finally left your vacation home, I have to say I was moved by how you had your Air Force One pilot descend from the clouds as you flew over New Orleans so you could catch a quick look of the disaster. Hey, I know you couldn't stop and grab a bullhorn and stand on some rubble and act like a commander in chief. Been there done that.

There will be those who will try to politicize this tragedy and try to use it against you. Just have your people keep pointing that out. Respond to nothing. Even those pesky scientists who predicted this would happen because the water in the Gulf of Mexico is getting hotter and hotter making a storm like this inevitable. Ignore them and all their global warming Chicken Littles. There is nothing unusual about a hurricane that was so wide it would be like having one F-4 tornado that stretched from New York to Cleveland.

No, Mr. Bush, you just stay the course. It's not your fault that 30 percent of New Orleans lives in poverty or that tens of thousands had no transportation to get out of town. C'mon, they're black! I mean, it's not like this happened to Kennebunkport. Can you imagine leaving white people on their roofs for five days? Don't make me laugh! Race has nothing -- NOTHING -- to do with this!

You hang in there, Mr. Bush. Just try to find a few of our Army helicopters and send them there. Pretend the people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast are near Tikrit.

Yours,
Michael Moore

P.S. That annoying mother, Cindy Sheehan, is no longer at your ranch. She and dozens of other relatives of the Iraqi War dead are now driving across the country, stopping in many cities along the way. Maybe you can catch up with them before they get to DC on September 21st.

New Orleans In Our Prayers

If you scroll down on the blog you will see pictures taken in New Orleans just a few weeks ago...We had the pleasure of visiting that great city and I am so glad now that we went because if we hadn't I don't know that we would have ever had the chance again...at least not to the same New Orleans that we went to....

Here are some of the websites that I have been visiting regularly to keep me updated:

Some of these links are quite impressive in the amount of information you can find there...
I would say enjoy but I am sure nothing about this is enjoyable..
At least it will keep you busy for awhile..

Peace Out,

Baton Rouge..Going downhill from what I can hear..Looters..shootings..carjackings..My whole family is there...my Mom two 3 brothers, a sister, and countless other "family" are in Louisiana..."all circuits are busy" is all I get when I call..stress..text messaging seems to work..sometimes..God help them all..

My prayers are with all of them..
